Film portrays aspects of materialism through the Greek myth of Charon and crossing the river Acheron to Hades. In fact, when someone dies, the family of a deceased person puts gold coin in his mouth. The gold coin is actually a mite that deceased souls must pay to Charon - the carrier of the dead in order to cross the river Acheron and arrive in Hades. If the deceased has no contribution, his soul will forever wander the banks of the river.
